From Your TJLA Director
Hey Everyone,
Well, the major shows are over, and the
state Field Day is just around the corner. I
know everyone has had a great year so far. I
sure hope that most of y’all can make it to
Bryan, Texas, June 6-8. It looks to be
another great show with even better animals,
at a brand new facility! As most of y’all
know and for those who don’t, I am a Junior
at Texas Tech University, majoring in
Agriculture Leadership. I was recently the
TJLA Secretary and am now serving as one of
your directors, so if you have any
questions, find me at the show! Have a safe
trip and see you when you get there!
God Bless,
Hannah Henderson

Junior National, AALF Coming
To Texas in ‘09
Dear TLA and TJLA Membership,
As you know, Texas will be
hosting the 2009 National Junior
Limousin Show and Congress and
All American Limousin Futurity
July 11-18, 2009 in Amarillo. I
have been fortunate enough to be
involved with hosting this event
in 1983 (San Antonio) 1992
(Fort Worth), and 2002
(Amarillo). It is very rewarding
and fun to have our National
Limousin family come to our
“home” for the premier week of
the year for our breed. I must
also be honest, it takes a lot
of planning and hard work.
If you are interested in serving
on a committee, please plan to
attend the Texas Limousin
Association annual meeting in
Fort Worth. We will be assigning
committees and mapping our route
to Amarillo in ‘09. If you are
unable to attend but want to be
a part of the action, please
contact Bruce Lawrence at (806)
997-5381 or me at (806)
375-2345.
I look forward to the fellowship
of working with fellow TLA and
TJLA members and the crew in
Amarillo to ensure the success
of this great event. I hope you
are as excited and fired up
about it as I am. Thanks in
advance, and let’s have a great
year in 2008 in the Limousin
breed.

The Texas Junior Limousin is very important to the TLA
and the beef industry. The TJLA promotes leadership,
friendship, education, the Limousin breed, and family
values.
Each year the TLA along with TJLA members and parents
organize and co-ordinate a Field Day and Heifer show the
first week-end in June. The event begins with a family
fun night, this year members and their parents played
miniature golf, and raced go-karts at a local putt-putt
game center. On Saturday members compete in photo
contests, sales talks, quiz bowls, testing their
knowledge of the Limousin breed and the Livestock
Industry. An awards banquet and dinner was held at the
Green Oaks Inn in Ft Worth where attendees where treated
to a barbeque dinner. Winners of the satellite events
held earlier in the day were recognized. Three $500
scholarships were awarded to graduating high school
seniors. Anthony McNeil of Rosharon, TX was awarded the
E.J. Bishop Memorial Scholarship, Ashley Kosub of St
Hedwig, TX was awarded the Gene Rodgers Memorial
Scholarship, and Kasey Rangel of Midway, TX received the
Matt Ertl Memorial Scholarship. The event concluded on
Sunday at the Will Rogers complex in Ft Worth, TX. TJLA
members exhibited 94 head of heifers, bulls, and steers.
Complete results are on the Show Results page.
Membership is open to anyone 21 years of age or younger.
Dues are $10.00 per year. Go to the "Join
TLA" page of this website to download an
application.
